Every person has a unique experience and a story to tell about his school life, so do I.

We had great fun in growing and learning. Every year we were taken to different places for our school picnics. I was never able to go to these tours but I enjoyed every word of the stories told by my friends. When I was in Grade Eight, I won a couple of prizes in drawing and school competitions. We were also given many projects as class assignments that helped all of us to know more about the subject. I was very fond of cricket (now in football). Every Saturday we used to have our P.T. exercise, and frankly speaking, nobody in my class, even me, had ever liked this. As I reached Grade Nine I realised that I should concentrate on my studies as the next year I was going to take my Board exams. The most memorable day in my life was the day when we held the farewell party for our seniors. Well, now I am in Grade Ten and all set to write my Boards in March. Whenever I recollect all these incidents of school life, I feel very happy and in everybody’s school life, I think there are many ups and downs that mould(浇注) one’s life. School is a place where all of us learn to care and share. “School” is not just a place, but also it is a large dome made up of knowledge, love and affection. Everyone takes drugs. Sometimes a drug might be called a herb (草药) but the effect is the same. Drugs and herbs can make life better for they are used to improve health. From the simplest headache to a cure for cancer, people believe that certain drugs can help them. But there is danger if the drugs are not used in a proper way.

American teenagers sometimes use certain drugs to feel good. They call this “getting high”. The problem is that once a young man or a young woman has the feeling of “getting high”, they want to do it often. If school is boring or too hard, students might get depressed and a drug or herb might help them feel better. If the student takes too much of a drug, the body may change in a wrong way such as a confused mind, poor sight, a headache, and an uncomfortable stomach.

Schools now have D. A. R. E. program which means Drug Abuse Resistance Education. This program was started so that young students from age 10 to 18 might understand how a drug affects their bodies. The main point of the program is education. Once a student understands certain drugs can cause ill health, he will know he should not use them.

Education is the key to good nutrition as well. If a student eats correctly, he or she will be full of energy which leads to good study habits and good grades. 浅析牛津高中英语模块七教材的整合利用

摘要:笔者在牛津高中英语选修七的教学过程中,发现为复习迎接高中学业水平测试,模块七的日常教学任务变重,且时间也比较紧。因此注重教材使用过程中的整合就比较必要了。本文通过笔者在牛津模块七(下文简称模块七)教材中的教学实践,初步探讨如何对教材进行整合运用。

教材整合,就是教师根据自己的教学实际情况,面对自己学生接受知识的实际能力,把英语每个单元的教学环节加以重新整合。教育部《英语课程标准》研制核心组专家刘兆义明确阐述新课程改革的核心理念是“一切为了学生的发展”,即“基于学生发展,关于学生发展,为了学生发展。”新颁布的英语课程标准也提出:“在英语教学中,除了合理有效的使用教科书外,还应该积极利用其他课程资源„„”。在新课程理念下,课本不是教学的全部内容,教材是可变的、发展的和开放的。而现在使用的牛津教材提供了大量的适合学生兴趣和年龄的内容,在教材的整合中老师只要设置好与教材相关的内容,辅助学生更好的理解所学的知识,注重提出学生感兴趣的话题,让他们由被动的学习英语变成主动的积极的去感受英语。这样的整合就能比较好地培养了学生实际运用语言的能力。也能促进每个学生身心健康发展,实现主动参与,探究发展,交流合作的学习方式,改变过去教学中教师过分依赖教材,过于强调接受学习,死记硬背,机械训练的现象。

笔者根据模块七教材中的教学实践,以以下案例探讨如何对教材进行整合利用。

一、教学内容的调整和组合。

根据学生的认知特点、心理特点和教学的实际情况,教师可对教材内容的顺序进行适当的调整,使其符合学生的兴趣和能力发展,以引导学生更有效地学习。

1. 单元之间的调整: 单元之间的调整主要是根据学生的认知特点,对单元的

安排进行重新调整,使之更有利于学生知识的掌握。

在模块七 unit1 Reading :TV and audio devices: a review中,reading strategy 的内容是understanding subtitles。旨在让学生通过对副标题的理解来快速把握文章主旨。本单元的文章结构根据副标题分别是:early history of TV; the modern age: cable TV, satellite TV , digital TV„;early history of audio devices; tape recorders and players; sound goes digital. 学生可以根据副标题轻松地划出文章结构,理解文章主旨。笔者在设计教学过程中,把模块七的P19,P34,P46, P62 页的文章提出来,让学生根据副标题猜测文章的主旨。这些页上的标题和副标题分别是:

P19 Title: Two life-saving medicines;

Subtitles: ASPIRIN , PENICILIN.

P34 Title: The effects of the internet on our lives;

Subtitles: The internet has positive effects on our lives

The internet has negative effects on our lives

P46 Title: research on the internet

这些文章就在学生的课本中,老师在上课时使用非常的方便,又能及时检查学生

对于unit 1 所学reading strategy 的理解。学生们能迅速根据副标题快速找出文章主旨。这在阅读理解中是非常重要的。

2.单元内词汇的调整: 单元内的调整就是我们在教学中可根据单元内知识的逻辑顺序,对教学内容作重新调整,从而更好的体现知识的系统性和完整性。

在模块七 M7 U2 FIT FOR LIFE 和 unit 4 public transport 中,welcome to the unit 和 word power 部分都涉及到专业词汇,而单词表中对于这两单元专业词汇的呈现则显得凌乱。学生在不了解词汇的情况下,很难真正的参与到说的活动中去,只能浮于表面。因此,笔者尝试在教学过程中将两者相结合,一方面先让学生将词汇表中和单元主题相关的词汇总结并分类,并鼓励学生补充相关的课外词汇;另一方面结合welcome / word power 开展思考和听说活动。这也能提高学生们参与学习的热情,因为现在他们现在有词可以用了,这就有利于有效开展后面的阅读教学。

3. 不同模块的整合

目前很多英语教材是以单元为体例进行编写的,例如我们使用的牛津英语教材。不同年级的教材会出现相同的话题,而语言点逐步加深加难。这就为不同年级教材的整合提供了条件。教材的整合,不应仅仅局限于某一个知识点,而应立足于整体,可以拓展到一个单元、一册书,乃至整个中学英语教材,让学生从整体上掌握,充分发挥整体结构的功能。

另外,教材中有的内容学生学习起来兴趣盎然,探究的深度和广度比较大。教师要能根据这些能激活学生主动学习的素材对教材进行拓展和延伸,不断引导学生深入研究,巩固基础、训练技能、提升能力。

在模块七 unit 3 task中,skills building 1: reading charts and graphs, 除了常规的听说训练之外,课本上关于图表的描述也是重点,但课本中这一单元
