M: Hello, everyone. Now we are glad to have Sarah Park to share her traveling experience.

W: Hello, I’m Sarah Park. As a photographer I have always loved to travel. The first place I visited was Africa. In Africa, there was no running water or toilets, but that did not matter to me. I loved the excitement of seeing animals run freely in the wild. It was so much fun. I still remember the adventure of camping when I was on Safari.

Besides Africa, I have visited many other lands, such as Spain, Italy, Scotland, Japan and Indonesia. People often ask me why I love to travel. How could anyone not love traveling? There is such an attraction in seeing new things, meeting new people and tasting new foods. However, I will admit traveling is very expensive. There are so many costs of traveling. I have to pay for the hotel room and food. Also, tourist attractions are usually expensive. Although I complain about the high cost of traveling, I wouldn’t choose to spend my money any other ways.

develop my interest in all that was alive and sometimes dead around me. 写作 Dear William,

Recently, I have heard that you feel stressed as a student of Senior Three. Here is some advice on how to study effectively.

First of all, learn in a relaxing way. This will remove our pressure, making study an easy job. Another way to keep up our spirits is to take part in sports. Not only does exercise build up the body, but also it provides us time to relax and fresh our mind, making us memorize things faster and longer. Music, too, is another effective means of refreshing and helping us

concentrate better.

Last but not least, we should exchange ideas with our classmates. Through the communication we can find support, which will encourge us to overcome difficulties in our study.

Hope these can benefit you.

Best wishes!

Yours,

Li Hua

The latest Chinese "god song" (an Internet term to describe pop songs that spread virally(病毒性地) through Internet) is still stirring fierce debate between those who view it as a milestone for Chinese pop music going global and those who regard it as bad for China's image.

Last week, Little Apple, written and performed by the Chopsticks Brothers, won the AMA International Song Award and the duo performed the song at the 2014 American

Music Awards in Los Angeles. Another Chinese pop singer, Zhang Jie, won the International Artist Award.

But while fans of these singers are thinking highly of the awards and the performance by the Chopsticks Brothers at the AMA celebration as significant, there are others who are less excited. They have questioned the value of the awards and what effect it will have on Chinese culture's "going abroad", claiming it may leave foreign audiences with a poor impression of Chinese pop music, and even Chinese culture.

The Little Apple phenomenon, both home and abroad, can be more easily understood and judged if we look at it from a business perspective rather than a cultural perspective. The professional promoters behind the duo have developed a clear strategy to promote the duo and their work, not just this particular song. Little Apple was originally released to promote the duo's film Old Boys: The Way of the Dragon.

From the very beginning a viral marketing strategy was used to promote the song, which immediately went viral on the Internet due to its repetitive rhythm, easy-to-remember lyrics, simple and funny dance and, most importantly, grassroots nature. The video accumulated more than 1 billion hits on China's major video website.

Although the song was generally dismissed by music professionals who criticized it as musical "junk food", Little Apple's popularity nationally paved the way for promoting the duo internationally.

21.The writer’s attitude to the song of Little Apple is ______. A. opposed B. negative A. Little Apple C. Zhang Jie

22. What does the underlined words “the duo” refer to?

B. Chopsticks brothers D. American singer

C. objective D. critical

23. We can learn from the passage that ______.

A. Little Apple's popularity is also a success of marketing strategy B. Little Apple is generally thought worthless by the AMA C. Little Apple is really popular with all people in China

D. Little Apple was originally released as a pop song on the Internet

B

In addition to seeing wonderful films, one of the joys of coming to the Quad Cinema is to hang out in the area. The Quad is located right in the heart of Greenwich Village, perhaps

the most charming and interesting neighborhood in the city. Here are some attractions we recommend, all within a comfortable walk from the Quad: Washington Square

As one of the best-known of New York City’s 1,900 public parks, it is a landmark in the Manhattan neighborhood of Greenwich Village, as well as a meeting place and center for cultural activity. Come on a Sunday when it’s most lively and festive. New York University

It surrounds Washington Square. See the impressive Bobst Library and visit the amazing bookstore. NYU is now considered one of the most powerful universities in the world. Judson Memorial Church

Located on Washington Square south between Thompson Street and Sullivan Street, opposite Washington Square Park, this beautiful church was completed in 1892. The Judson is most famous for its vocal participation in social events. Washington Mews

It is a hidden, private street in New York City between Fifth Avenue and University Place just north of Washington Square Park. It was first developed as a mews (row of stables) that serviced horses from homes in the area. Since the 1950s the former stables have served as housing, offices and other facilities for New York University. Jefferson Market Courthouse

Built in 1833 as a market, it was later changed to a courthouse, and in the 1950s it was emptied and close to being destroyed. It was saved and turned into a library. Many consider it to be the most beautiful building in the village. 24. What does the author want to tell in the passage? A. To introduce some attractions in the Quad. B. To suggest the Quad Cinema is the best place. C. To imply the Quad attracts a lot of visitors. D. To tell readers to enjoy their life fully.

25. The author mentions Washington Square because_______. A. it is in the center of Greenwich Village B. it has a history of more than 100 years C. it is a landmark in the Manhattan D. it has witnessed so many incidents

Sure, it’s good to get along with your teacher because it makes that time you spend in the classroom more pleasant. And yes, it’s good to get along with your teacher because, in general,

it’s smart to learn how to relate to the different types of people you’ll meet throughout your life. But really, there’s one super-important reason why you should get along with your teacher. Kids who get along with their teachers not only learn more, but they’re more comfortable asking questions and getting extra help. This makes it easier to understand new material and do your best on tests. When you have this kind of relationship with a teacher, he or she can be someone to turn to with problems, such as problems with learning or school issues, such as bullying.

As a kid in elementary or middle school, you’re at a wonderful stage in your life. You’re able to take in lots of new and exciting information. Apart from that, you’re able to think about all this information in new ways. Your teacher knows that, and in most cases, he or she is thrilled to be the person who’s giving you all that material and helping you put it together. Remember, teachers are people, too, and they feel great if you’re open to what they’re teaching you. That’s why they wanted to be teachers in the first place to teach!

Some kids may be able to learn in any situation, whether they like the teacher or not. But most kids are sensitive to the way they get along with the teacher, and if things aren’t going well, they won’t learn as well and won’t enjoy being in class.

21. Paragraph 2 mainly talks about_______.

A. new materials learned from teachers

B. ways to develop relationship with teachers

C. benefits in getting along with teachers

D. avoiding problems happening around kids

22. What’s the writer’s attitude towards getting along with teachers?

A. Doubtful. B. Objective. C. Uncaring. D. Favorable.

23. What can we know from the passage?

A. Kids are unable to understand lots of exciting information.

B. Kids are bullied while communicating with others in schools.

C. Kids will leave the class when not doing quite well with their teachers.

D. Kids will leave the class when not satisfied with teachers’ teaching methods.

24. The passage is most probably taken from______.

A. children’s literature B. an education magazine

C. a science report D. an advertisement

B

Selena Gomez and I are scheduled to meet at a low-key coffee shop in Encino. Not wanting to keep the superstar waiting, I arrived at nine, 20 minutes early. As I was catching up on e-mails, Selena quietly scooted into the seat next to me. No bodyguard. Not even a drop of makeup. She was ten minutes early and so inconspicuous that no one else in the restaurant looked up so much. Selena was wearing Bebe shorts. She had a baby face and ordered a hot chocolate.

After making small talk about what she wore for the shoot, she dived into the subject of her career. Selena declared 2012 the year of movies. She filmed three: Spring Breakers, a drama; The Getaway, an action flick; and Hotel Transylvania, a comedy. Each is a marked move away from the teen style that made her a household name.

Now that her Disney days are behind her, Selena is at that unstable point in a child star’s career where she is trying to grow up---both as a person(she turned 20 in July)and as an artist. “Being part of the Disney Channel was such a blessing, and I’m super happy with what my show accomplished, but acting is something I would like to take on more seriously.” She continued, “I

don’t necessarily feel accomplished. I want to creat a whole different persona when it comes to acting.”

Selena has been working fulltime since she was seven years old and scored a role on Barney&Friends. In 2007, when she was offered the lead in Wizards of Waverly Place, Selena, her mother, and her stepfather uprooted from Grand Prairie, Texas, to LA, where they are settling now.

25. When was it that Selena arrived at the low-key coffee shop?

A. At ten. B. At ten to nine.

D. Each of the three films marks Selena’s move away from her teen style.

B. She didn’t feel very satisfied with her show in Disney.

C. She found her not accomplished in her performance in Disney.

Fund Tianhong Zenglibao has become the first fund in China to hit 100 billion yuan ($16.30 billion) of sales thanks to its cooperation with Yu’ebao, Alibaba’s wealth management product. Alipay(支付宝), attached to the e-commerce giant Alibaba Group, announced in June it would offer its users the option to directly invest with the private Tianhong Fund using spare cash from Alipay accounts. The business is called Yu’ebao.

If a buyer forgets to confirm payment, the money is transferred into the seller’s account after 10 days by the system.

The Singles Day had a total volume of 35 billion yuan($5.75 billion) and thus a large amount of money passed through Alipay’s account. Analysts estimated that Alipay may have also bought

书面表达

Dear, Worried,

you’ re upset these days because your parents expect you to attend a key university. I’m writing to offer you some advice.

As we know, all parents want their children to have a bright future. However, being admitted to a famous university doesn’t mean success. After all, it is not what we’ve achieved but what we’ve paid that matters most.

So I advise you to concentrate on your lessons. Don’t care too much about what others say. Besides, you should believe in yourself. I’m sure you can go to a famous university if you try your best. Finally, why not talk with your parents, making them aware of how you are feeling?

Hopefully my advice will be useful to you.

Sure, it’s good to get along with your teacher because it makes that time you spend in the classroom more pleasant. And yes, it’s good to get along with your teacher because, in general, it’s smart to learn how to relate to the different types of people you’ll meet throughout your life.

But really, there’s one super-important reason why you should get along with your teacher. Kids who get along with their teachers not only learn more, but they’re more comfortable asking questions and getting extra help. This makes it easier to understand new material and do your best on tests. When you have this kind of relationship with a teacher, he or she can be someone to turn to with problems, such as problems with

learning or school issues, such as bullying.

B. Kids are bullied while communicating with others in schools.

C. Kids will leave the class when not doing quite well with their teachers.

D. Kids will leave the class when not satisfied with teachers’ teaching methods.

A. children’s literature B. an education magazine

C. a science report D. an advertisement

She filmed three: Spring Breakers,

a drama; The Getaway, an action flick; and Hotel Transylvania, a comedy. Each is a marked move away from the teen style that made her a household name.

Now that her Disney days are behind her, Selena is at that unstable point in a child star’s career where she is trying to grow up---both as a person(she turned 20 in July)and as an artist. “Being part of the Disney Channel was such a blessing, and I’m super happy with what my show accomplished, but acting is something I would like to take on more seriously.” She continued, “I don’t necessarily feel accomplished. I want to creat a whole different persona when it comes to acting.”

Selena has been working fulltime since she was seven years old and scored a role on Barney&Friends. In 2007, when she was offered the lead in Wizards of Waverly Place, they are settling now.

25. When was it that Selena arrived at the low-key coffee shop?

A. At ten. B. At ten to nine.

26. Which of the following statements is ture according to the second paragraph?

A. Selena went into her film career as soon as we met in the coffee shop.

B. Three famous films filmed in 2012 have shown her teen style.

C. The film Hotel Transylvania is an action flick filmed in 2012

D. Each of the three films marks Selena’s move away from her teen style.

27. How did Selena think of Disney days which were behind her?

A. She thought of playing in Disney a blessing.

B. She didn’t feel very satisfied with her show in Disney.

C. She found her not accomplished in her performance in Disney.

D. She believed her being part in Disney Channel a blessing.

28. The underlined word in the last paragraph probably means “ _______”.
