Rebecca英文读后感 第一篇

My impression on Vanity Fair

Vanity Fair is the nineteen-century British novelist William Makepeace Thackeray’s most famous work and also one of the most famous British satirical novels of critical realism. In the story, Amelia Sedley, from a good family, and Rebecca Sharp, an orphan, leave Miss Pinkerton's academy on Chiswick Mall to live out their lives in Vanity Fair — the world of social climbing and search for wealth. Amelia does not esteem the values of Vanity Fair; Rebecca cares for nothing else. Rebecca becomes snobbish and complicated in order to climb out of poverty. She toys and flirts with any prospective ladder through which she could ascend to the upper class. But she also loses a lot, like her beloved husband ,during her pursuit of wealth and status. Finally,Rebecca and Amelia live a simple life away from the vanity fair.【Rebecca英文读后感

The most impressive part of the novel is the sentence said by Rebecca ‘’If I had 5,000 pounds, I would be a good woman. ‘’For many readers, Rebecca is a bad woman and she gets overwhelming contempt and condemnation. On the other hand, Amelia is kind and generous and she is favored by the majority. But considering the reality of the society at that time, we can not easily judge them as bad or good person, just like the original name of the novel ‘’A Novel Without a Hero ‘’In some aspect ,their characters are determined by the society. Rebecca is born in a poor family. Although she is smart ,good at French and well-behaved, she is always disrespected just because of her poor background and low status. When she was at Amelia’s home as a governess ,Amelia’s brother Joseph loved her ,but George Osborn persuaded him not to marry her for she was a governess and he dosen’t want a governess for a sister- in-law. And Joseph was convinced. The upper people ,though behaving well, regard status and wealth the most important. Rebecca well knows the misery of poverty and she is fed up with it, so she gets unscrupulous to get to the upper class. Although she was mean and snobbish, some people also like her for her coverage and intelligence. She, as a young woman, deals with all the men and women by herself. In addition, she told Amelia that George Osborne was not

worthwhile for her to love, although it hurts Amelia. From it, we can see Rebecca is frank and good to her friend.

On the contrary, Amelia is considered kind and generous for most of us. But she is not that good. At first, she is really kind-hearted and loves Osborne heart and soul , but I think in that society, she is kind of naive and innocent which only bring her harm and hurt. After her father is bankrupt, Osborne is forbidden to marry her by his father, so he left her and even induces Rebecca. We can easily learn that he is not that into Amelia. But Amelia does not believe it and put too much into the relationship, which only means hurt to herself. Also, she overlooks William Dobbin’s for all the years. And after the death of Osborne, she leads a very poor life with her son. When she finally can’t stand the poor life, she chooses to take advantage of Dobbin’love and lead a better life. This also shows her selfishness. From all above, we can see nobody is perfect in the novel, and we can not simply classify them as good or bad.

The story shows the rottenness of the society at that time, but I think this kind of rottenness also exists in our society, especially in the upper world among the celebrities, especially the stars. I know nowadays many people wants to be stars. They want to be respected and admired by a lot of people, and also live a luxury life. So they do everything they can to get attention. Some get famous by money, and others even choose to be famous by having a relationship with the director so that they can get a chance to be in a movie or play and get popularity. This may sounds humiliating, but it’s not rare in the entertaining field. What’s more, among the famous stars, there are always some conflicts. They compete against each other for money or status. In fact, this phenomenon is not only in one field, but also in other fields.

Just like people in the Vanity Fair, nowadays people are selfish and snobbish, too. That’s because people attach too much importance to the wealth and status. But we can’t just blame it on people. The rottenness is ubiquitous in the whole society. So if the individuals don’t behave according to the reality and disciplines, they would suffer losses.【Rebecca英文读后感

Vanity Fair is like a mirror, and it reflects the reality of the society clearly and directly. It also reminds us of our society. We may be shocked by the darkness of the human beings. What we should do is not to blame but to reflect on ourselves and try to be more merciful and righteous. If everyone have a try, the society will be a better environment for us to live in.

Rebecca

I like this story’s heroine, the second Mrs. de Winter. Although she is so poor and doesn’t have an extremely pretty face, she has a very pure heart and she is also very kind-hearted. When she meets Mr. de Winter, her gentle and purity moves his heart deeply. Soon they fall in love with each other and even get married. Then they return to Mandalay, his large country estate. She is very sincere and kind to every servant. Mrs. Danvers, the housekeeper of Mandalay, resents her having taken the place of Rebecca, the former hostess. But the heroine politely says to her“I do hope we’ll be friends. You must be patient with me. This sort of life is new to me, and I do want to make a success of it. ”And the heroine loves his husband very deeply, even though there are many troubles in their lives, her love doesn’t change all the time. I really like her goodness.

I don’t like Mrs. Danvers, the housekeeper. She admires Rebecca the former hostess morbidly and even tries to make troubles to divide Mr. de Winter and the heroine. At last, she perishes together with【Rebecca英文读后感】

Something about humanity

The impressions of《To kill a mockingbird》

I saw this move in three weeks ago, I think this move is very outstanding work. It told us many good things about humanity. The move has a positive significance in the pursuit of racial equality, through the film we saw ourselves and see the good and evil of human nature. This move made me knew some truths. If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you, be honest and frank anyway; the good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow, be good anyway; you show sympathy for the weak, people still follow the strong, but you must justice for the weak.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you, be honest and frank anyway. Tom Robinson is a diligent and kind black people. In the south of the US there has very serious racial discrimination at that time. Tom knew the white people despise them. But when Mayella asked him for help. He still helps her generous. When Mayella and her father Bob Ewell frame him up. He never hates the white people. He just feels sorry for Mayella, a white woman. Tom Robinson is a very goodness people. He has many good qualities. The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow, be good anyway. The father in the move, Atticus, is a lawyer who was with a feeling for justice. He always helps helping others regardless of whether they have money. He help Walter Cunningham go to court and free of charge. But in order to kill Tom Robinson, Walter Cunningham wants to hurt Atticus. Fortunately the children comes and made angry farmers dispel the idea that to kill Tom Robinson. Atticus never want to takes revenge to those farmers including Bob Ewell so I think he is

a magnanimous person.

You show sympathy for the weak, people still follow the strong, but you must justice for the weak. Atticus as a white people to against racial discrimination at that time is very courageous. The racist in that town all hate him, after the court Bob Ewell tried to fight with him and hurt his children. Atticus still help the black people and poor people. The local black all respect him very much. I think these must to do to be a good father and lawyer. He methods of life, his philosophy and values have a deep influence on his children. I believe that Scout and Jem will become honest good people.

This novel is a precious relics is what I want to say. At that kind、elegant and simple in the US, this novel keeps the hope and emotion for the people. If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you, be honest and frank anyway; the good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow, be good anyway; you show sympathy for the weak, people still follow the strong, but you must justice for the weak. These things told me that there are many bad thing in the world; but there are also exist great things in the world. What we think, what we saw.

小公主英文读后感
Rebecca英文读后感 第五篇

every girl can be a princess, even though she lives in a low attic, even though she is in shabby clothes, even though she is not beautiful, nevertheless, she can be a real princess at heart。

a little princess is a touching novel written by frances hodgson burt?a famous novelist and dramatist。 it obviously contains lots of fancied plots, but the parts it talks about creating miracles, can really reach the bottom of my heart。 the book can bring me into a world that is more than reality while reading it。小公主英文读后感。 the extraordinary story makes me ponder a lot and gives me a deep impression that every girl can be a princess。

in my opinion, it is impossible for every rich girl to act like a well-behaved princess, but sara, the heroine of the novel, did it! she was an imaginative little girl who had such intelligent small face and such perfect manners。 sara was a very nice girl who had a gentle, appreciative ways of saying, such as ?if you please? ?thank you? which was very charming。 so, not only her teachers and classmates liked her,but also her servants liked her。 there was a time when sara became a poor and pitiful servant insulted by the snobbish headmaster of the school。 in spite of this, she had never plained to anyone about the horrible suffering she had endured。 sara was confident, brave, optimistic and kind-hearted just like before and she had never given up her enthusiasm of life。小公主英文读后感。 no matter when, sara acted like a princess, and on account of this, she had acplished a great deal of miracles over and over again。

after reading this outstanding book, i was shocked by sara, a little girl who suffered such unimaginable pain and tortures, but still had an opposite attitude towards life。 what impresses me most is that sara put on her act of being a princess when she wore thin bottom shoes, wading in the street of london。 from my point of view, her spirit of being so strong-minded when she was in hard times is worth admiring。

truly, every girl is a princess ing into mon life。 the ?princess? i mean is not a princess living in the palace and being regarded as the apple of everyone?s eye。 as the matter of fact, the ?princess? is at heart。 i am in the belief that every ordinary girl in the world can be a princess。 the way for a girl to be a princess is quite simple。 just suppose! you can suppose yourself to be a princess, and go about your business confidently without caring how the others would treat you。 if you want to have more resemblance to a princess, be more kind and try your best to help the people in need。 the most important thing you are supposed to do is that to feel like a real princess at any occasion, particularly when you are involved with enormous melancholy。 do not feel the conditions you faced are extremely wretched and attempt to get rid of the feeling of hopelessness and uneasiness。 the less you look like a princess, the more you need to feel like a princess at heart。

every girl can be a princess if she can do all i mentioned, no matter she is rich, beautiful or not。 to speak truthfully, i cannot do as well as sara。 however, i will exert myself on being a princess mentally。

do not feel depressed any more, to be a well-thought-of princess like sara。 you can do it, because every girl can be a princess。
