隐形人英文读后感篇一
《Invisible Man《 隐形人》 英文读后感》

Impression of “Invisible Man”

The narrator begins telling his story with the claim that he is an “invisible man.” His invisibility, he says, is not a physical condition—he is not literally invisible—but is rather the result of the refusal of others to see him. He says that because of his invisibility, he has been hiding from the world, living underground and stealing electricity from the Monopolated Light & Power Company. He burns 1,369 light bulbs

simultaneously and listens to Louis Armstrong’s “(What Did I Do to Be So) Black and Blue” on a phonograph. He says that he has gone underground in order to write the story of his life and invisibility.

As a young man, in the late 1920s or early 1930s, the narrator lived in the South. Because he is a gifted public speaker, he is invited to give a speech to a group of important white men in his town. The men reward him with a briefcase containing a scholarship to a prestigious black college, but only after humiliating him by forcing him to fight in a “battle royal” in which he is pitted against other young black men, all blindfolded, in a boxing ring. After the battle royal, the white men force the youths to scramble over an electrified rug in order to snatch at fake gold coins. Three years later, the narrator is a student at the college. He is asked to drive a wealthy white trustee of the college, Mr. Norton, around the campus. Norton talks incessantly about his daughter, then shows an undue interest in the narrative of Jim Trueblood, a poor, uneducated black man who impregnated his own daughter. After hearing this story, Norton needs a drink, and the narrator takes him to the Golden Day, a saloon and brothel that normally serves black men. A fight breaks out among a group of mentally imbalanced black veterans at the bar, and Norton passes out during the chaos. He is tended by one of the veterans, who claims to be a doctor and who taunts both Norton and the narrator for their blindness regarding race relations.

1

The narrator says that he has stayed underground ever since; the end of his story is also the beginning. He states that he finally has realized that he must honor his individual complexity and remain true to his own identity without sacrificing his responsibility to the community. He says that he finally feels ready to emerge from underground.

Themes

As the narrator of Invisible Man struggles to arrive at a conception of his own identity, he finds his efforts complicated by the fact that he is a black man living in a racist American society. Throughout the novel, the narrator finds himself passing through a series of communities, from the Liberty Paints plant to the Brotherhood, with each microcosm endorsing a different idea of how blacks should behave in society. As the narrator attempts to define himself through the values and expectations imposed on him, he finds that, in each case, the prescribed role limits his complexity as an individual and forces him to play an inauthentic part. Upon arriving in New York, the narrator enters the world of the Liberty Paints plant, which achieves financial success by subverting blackness in the service of a brighter white. There, the narrator finds himself involved in a process in which white depends heavily on black—both in terms of the mixing of the paint tones and in terms of the racial makeup of the workforce. Yet the factory denies this dependence in the final presentation of its product, and the narrator, as a black man, ends up stifled. Later, when the narrator joins the Brotherhood, he believes that he can fight for racial equality by working within the ideology of the organization, but he then finds that the Brotherhood seeks to use him as a token black man in its abstract project.

Ultimately, the narrator realizes that the racial prejudice of others causes them to see him only as they want to see him, and their limitations of vision in turn place limitations on his ability to act. He concludes 2

that he is invisible, in the sense that the world is filled with blind people who cannot or will not see his real nature. Correspondingly, he remains unable to act according to his own personality and becomes literally unable to be himself. Although the narrator initially embraces his invisibility in an attempt to throw off the limiting nature of stereotype, in the end he finds this tactic too passive. He determines to emerge from his underground “hibernation,” to make his own contributions to society as a complex individual. He will attempt to exert his power on the world outside of society’s system of prescribed roles. By making proactive contributions to society, he will force others to acknowledge him, to acknowledge the existence of beliefs and behaviors outside of their prejudiced expectations.

Over the course of the novel, the narrator realizes that the complexity of his inner self is limited not only by people’s racism but also by their more general ideologies. He finds that the ideologies advanced by

institutions prove too simplistic and one-dimensional to serve something as complex and multidimensional as human identity. The novel contains many examples of ideology, from the tamer, ingratiating ideology of Booker T. Washington subscribed to at the narrator’s college to the more violent, separatist ideology voiced by Ras the Exhorter. But the text makes its point most strongly in its discussion of the Brotherhood. Among the Brotherhood, Because he has decided that the world is full of blind men and sleepwalkers who cannot see him for what he is, the narrator describes himself as an “invisible man.” The motif of invisibility pervades the novel, often manifesting itself hand in hand with the motif of blindness—one person becomes invisible because another is blind. While the novel almost always portrays blindness in a negative light, it treats invisibility much more ambiguously. Invisibility can bring disempowerment, but it can also bring freedom and mobility. Indeed, it is the freedom the narrator derives from his anonymity that enables him to tell his story. Moreover, both the veteran at the Golden Day and the narrator’s grandfather seem 3

to endorse invisibility as a position from which one may safely exert power over others, or at least undermine others’ power, without being caught. The narrator demonstrates this power in the Prologue, when he literally draws upon electrical power from his hiding place underground; the electric company is aware of its losses but cannot locate their source. At the end of the novel, however, the narrator has decided that while invisibility may bring safety, actions undertaken in secrecy cannot ultimately have any meaningful impact. One may undermine one’s enemies from a position of invisibility, but one cannot make significant changes to the world. Accordingly, in the Epilogue the narrator decides to emerge from his hibernation, resolved to face society and make a visible difference.

My Impressions after Reading”Gone with the Wind”

——10911010330

Recently,I have just finished reading a famous novel written by Margaret mitchell—“Gone with the Wind”,which is one of the most popular works among American novels. It took the auther about 10 years to finish this great novel, the only novel in her life. The story happened during the Civil War eve.Scarlett O'Hara,a 16-year-old girl, who was living in Tala manor in Georgia, was loving her neighbor Ashley Wilkes. However, after the war have broken out, Ashley Wilkes married his yonger cousin Melanie. Scarlett was so angry that she decided to marry a man she didn‟t really love---- Charles Hamilton. Not long after that, Charles Hamilton joined the Army and died of illness in the war.So Scarlett had to act as a widow.Afterwards,at a donating dance party,Scarlett is acquainted with a captain named Rhett Butler. Then the flames of war approached Atlanta.Everyone was busy leaving away from the war.Scarlett managed to escape from Atlanta with the help of captain Rhett.Having come back to Tala manor,Scarlett made up her mind to rally her homeland at any cost when she saw that the former manor had been ruined.Later, her second husband died in the fight, she was a widow again.Durling that time, Rhett had been loving Scarlett sincerely and warmly.Seeing that Rhett could help her rally the manor,Scarlett married

him.Although Rhett had similar characteristic attracting her,Scarlett still loved Ashley.Later, their only daughter died accidently,Rhett left Scarlett sorrowly. And then Scarlett realized that Rhett was the only one who could fall in love with her.

The novel takes the US Civil War as the background. It takes Scarlett‟s individual activity as the thread. The book show us a tragic love story .A couple who could have a perfect future, but finnally go in opposite direction. As a matter of fact, their charactristics have decided their tragic result inevitably. We feel sorry about the end because we are looking forward to a perfect end, just like Scarlett and Rhett. In fact, ferfect is always a excessive damand.

I affirm Rhett. He brings excitement to Scarlett‟s life and encourages her impulse to change and succeed.Like Scarlett,he goes after what he wants and refuses to take „no‟ for an answer. He is humorous, intelligent and cynical with a hint of treason. He is really a respectable man.I think he finnally left because of love .Otherwise,he couldn‟t have gone without hesitation.

Ashley Wilkes is the foil to Rhett‟s dark, realistic opportunism. If there was no Civil War,he is surely a nobility of grace and charm. But history cannot be changed. He bocame a victim of the war.His era was gone with the defeat of the war.At the same time,we cannot deny the

fact that he had a chear understanding about reality, which just contribute to his tragedy.

In this book, what I appreciate most is not Melanie‟skindness or Rheet‟s dedication and patience, but Scarlett‟s courage to throw her long-standing morality and tradition whe faced with diffiiculties. At the beginning of the war,she didn‟t care about this.In her world are endless dinner parties and dance parties. In her body are her father‟s brave Irish blood and her mother‟s noble French pure blood. She had a vast farm as her home. She had hundreds of slaves. This is Scarlett.,a member of noblity, proud and different. However, the war changed everything. Her mother died of illness. Her father become silent and the farm was nearly deserted.Even food became a big problem. All the pressure was put on Scarlett‟s shoulder. She must feed a family of 9 people in it.What a big difference of level. If all this happened to someone else,he or she may choose to escape. On the contrary,Scarlett choose to face the change of life bravely. How can we not admire her courage of to change herself.Life is like a mountain. The road can‟t be completely smooth. When we fall down from the peak,we may get hert ,we may get disappointed,we may feel despair. But if you want to survive, you must stand up to face it.

It is obvious that <<Gone with the wind>> is really a good book, even if a long time has passed away,it is still suitable for today‟s

society. It is of great importance to change ourselves, change our value even our thoughts when our life chages.

On the other hand,I think there is no real perfect in the world.Everybody has his shortcomings. It is necessary for us to learn to forgive others‟ faults. If we keep good-tempered,Ibelieve there will be more comedy and less tragedy.

《三杯茶读后感400字 英文》

Be grateful

Recently, I have read the chapter 12 of a book “Three Cups of Tea”. This is a book written by Greg Mortenson and Divid Oliver Relin, which says that Greg Mortenson, a mountaineer drifted into an impoverished Pakistan village in the Karakoram Mountains. Moved by the inhabitants’ kindness, he promised to return and build a school after a terrifying and disastrous attempt to climb K2. Over the next decade, Mortenson had built not just one but fifty-five schools—especially for girls, in remote village across the forbidding and breathtaking landscape of Pakistan and Afghanistan. This book impressed me about Mortenson’s gratefulness to the people of Balti who saved his life. He devoted his love, perseverance and passion to keep his promise. Finally, he fulfilled his promise and became famous in America and Pakistan.

From this chapter of “Three Cups of Tea”, I have learned that owning a grateful heart is vital to us. A grateful heart to a person is what the sun to the ground. Without a grateful heart, We will become indifferent and selfish. While, there are quite a few students lacking of the consciousness of being grateful nowadays. They turn to take such things for granted, as parents supporting them, teachers helping them, and waiters serving them. They are even mean to say “Thank you” to others. This phenomenon has caused wide public concern at present.

What caused this remarkable phenomenon? Personally, there are at least three premier factors contributing to it. To begin with, the potential family education plays a cardinal part in the changes. Some parents turn to pay too much attention

to children’s academic performance, but to ignore the value orientation. Furthermore, some schools are not willing to input enough time and money in moral education. Besides, some students get so much love that they are insensitive to other’s care and help.

In conclusion, it is imperative for us to take effective measures to reverse the disturbing phenomenon and strengthen the students’ consciousness of being grateful. First of all, the parents should improve self-quality and influence children by their own behavior. Moreover, the society and school should increase input in moral education, and try to build the atmosphere of being grateful. Finally, we students should learn to express our gratefulness to people around us, just beginning from the simple words of “Thank you”. Learn to be grateful, our life will be full of sunshine. So, just do it and enjoy the warmth of life!

《嘉莉妹妹读后感英文》

Sister Carrie

Theodore Dreiser, born in Terre Haute, Indiana, USA, was raised in poverty and in a German-speaking environment. He left home for Chicago at age 16. After a period of odd jobs and a year at the University of Indiana, he became a Midwestern newspaper reporter and, in New York after 1894, a magazine feature writer. In 1892, married Sara White, but their marriage wasn’t happy, so they have been separated since 1909 and never officially divorced

Sister Carrie (1900), his first and still highly regarded novel, was withheld from general distribution because of it was supposed amoral, and its commercial failure plunged him into financial distress and mental breakdown. Some reasons which caused the difficulties of publish can be seen from the social background of the society of that time. At the time, United States is experiencing a rapid social change, it was transforming from free capitalism transition to the monopoly capitalism. The whole American literature was indulged in idealism, many writers preferred to describe the optimistic aspect of life. The novel is regarded as entertainment products; works is full of illusory ideal and covered by romantic color. The exploiter and exploitee lived a completely different life. The ugly phenomenon in the society was not reflected in literature works. In Sister Carrie, Dreiser truthfully reveals the dark side of the social life, and that’s the reason why the author constantly suffered from persecution. The novels have been classified as "banned", and can not be published in the America.

Sister Carrie is about a young country girl who moves to the big city where she starts realizing her own American Dream, first as a mistress to men that she perceives as superior, and later becoming a famous actress. It has been called the "greatest of all American urban novels."

The personal life of the writer has very close relationship with his work Sister Carrie. There are some similarities between the author and the heroine. First, the heroine was born in a poor family just as same as the author. That’s why the author can know so clearly about the psychological activity of the poor girl Carrie and described it in such delicate words. Second, it can be seen from the novel that the place where the girl chase her dream was Chicago. The author also has gone to the same place to fulfill his dream. So he saw what Carrie saw. For instance, how the rich men lived, how they enjoy their life, what was the poor’s life like, with such a living experience, the gap between the rich and the poor was so truly reflected before our eyes. Third, they all once are earning meager support from menial jobs. Forth, they all have the same dream. Dreiser has admitted that he was once chased after the pleasure from material things, but he despised it afterwards. Carrie’s life was always surrounded by her chasing for a better material life. At the beginning, she left her hometown and came for her sister. But when her sister’s living couldn’t attract her anymore, she went to the salesman Drouet, then Hursthood and at last the theater. Except the heroine, the character Hursthood was not so happy in his marriage life, so was the author. Hursthood was suppressed and looking for something new, thrill and beautiful. Maybe Hursthood’s mental state was just like the author’s during that period. Sven Hanson, Minnie's husband, of Swedish extraction and taciturn temperament. As we all know, Dreiser’s father was a Swedish, a severe rigid and distant man. We can slightly suppose that the character of Sven Hanson was originated from his father.

As for Carrie, there’s such a sentence in the book: “In Carrie—as in many of our worldings do they not?— instinct and reason, desire and understanding, were at war for the mastery. She

followed whither her craving led. She was as yet more drawn than she drew. ” This seems tells us that the currency of the society is an overwhelming power that pushes one to do something and defines the view of value for the people. I think this sentence is the perfect description for Carrie and all her stories, every choices she made just show us how suitable this description is for her. Through the heroine, the author tries to reveal the human nature nakedly before our eyes. When Sister Carrie ran out of her sister’s home without any money, she met Drouet and he gave her ten soft dollar bills. On the one hand, she felt ashamed because she has been weak to take it. But on the other hand, her need was so dire, she was still glad. That’s the contradiction of her nature. After she met Hursthood, she was attracted by him. On the one hand, she felt guilty. But on another, she was longing for a better life. And it’s also the same situation when she left Hursthood when he became poor. As for Drouet, the book tells us in regard to his pursuit of women, he meant them no harm, because he did not conceive of the relation which he hoped to hold with them as being harmful. He chased women not because he was a cold-blooded, dark, scheming villain, but because his inborn desire urged him to that as a chief delight. That’s the contradiction of Drouet’s nature.

Most people say Sister Carrie’s story is a story of her American dream comes true. But I disagree with it. Carrie does have her dream come true, finally she lives a rich life and is admired by others. But what is American dream? It is a set of ideals in which freedom includes the opportunity for prosperity and success, and an upward social mobility achieved through hard work. While from the book I can’t see a hardworking girl. When Carrie’s looking for a job, she is so timid and can only see the material things that workers get instead of the pain they bear. After she get a job of making shoes in a factory, she does feel happy at first, but soon facing the easy money from she does want to do this work anymore. Of course, as a girl, in such a society, with such economic situation, she might not have so many choices. But, although Carrie did something not so good, I still can not hate this character. Because she’s so real, she just follows her nature to live her life. She’s beautiful and smart, if she is born in a wealthy family, then she will not depend men to live. But no one can choose where to be born; destiny seems just so unfair sometimes. The most pity thing I think is that although Carrie lives a rich life at last, but she doesn’t find the true meaning of living. But the true meaning of life is always obscure; nobody knows exactly what it is. So why bother to think about it, just live our life good.

《1984读后感 英文版》

1984 is not a particularly good novel, but it is a very good essay. On the novel front, the characters are bland and you only care about them because of the awful things they live through. As a novel all the political exposition is heavyhanded, and the message completely overrides any sense of storytelling. As an essay, the points it makes can be earthshaking. It seems everyone who has so much as gotten a parking ticket thinks he lives in a 1984-dystopia. Every administration that reaches for power, injures civil liberties or collaborates too much with media is accused of playing Big Brother. These are the successes of 1984's paranoia, far outliving its original intent as a battery against where Communism was going (Orwell was a severely disappointed Marxist), and while people who compare their leaders to Big Brother are usually overreaching themselves and speak far away from Orwell's intent and vision, it is a useful catchcloth for dissent. Like so many immortalized books with a social vision, 1984's actual substance is so thin that its ideologies and fear-mongering aspects can be stretched and skewed to suit the readers. If you'd like a better sense of the real world and Orwell's intents, rather than third-hand

Walden

Walden is a masterpiece written by Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862), who was born in Concord, Massachusetts. The age he lived had witnessed the flourish of capitalism as well as the prosperity of industrialization and urbanization. During the 19th century, the American economy developed at so fast rate that most people were bound up in pursuing the material satisfaction , while ingored the spiritual life to a great extent. But Thoreau was quite different from other people, he disdained the modern civilization and attached more importance to the spirit than the material. He thought many people of his time lived in a non-human-like modern society and many modern appliances, such as trains and telegraphs, had done harm to people's harmonious life peace and also broken the relationship between human and nature.

In order to prove that without the modern instruments , people can also live a happy life, in 1845, he moved into a cabin on the shore of Walden Pond and live there alone for two years to get close to the nature .Walden, is the famous book mainly talks about his life and thoughts during those days living in the woods .

Thoreau was so happy with the life living near the lake of Walden that he felt it a sweet grace to have the nature' accompany and even the sounds of rain and the sights around his house were full of sincere friendship. In his eyes, the nature was an intimate friend of him and all things in the nature were lively and vivacious. And all kinds of animals in the wood, such as field mouses, robins and wild rabbits were amicably treated and regarded as his adorable companions. He even thought that plants were also had the right to live equal with human beings. Just because of this, he even blamed himself for hitting chestnut trees with stones. From many words or sentences, we can easily feel Thoreau's deep love and care towards nature.

Besides, Thoreau was a pioneering nature lover, who called on people to stop destorying nature but protect it by setting himself an example to others. The consciousness of the environmental protection is becoming more and more important in our modern society, while the whole world is trapped in some serious ecological crisises resulting from hunting and killing animals, cutting down trees and polluting the rivers for pursuit of human beings' own interests. We all have the common sense that the number of wildlife is decreasing, the area of lake is shrinking, and the water is not clear any more. What's worse, 1

environment problems such as globe warming, climate change and air and water pollution are deteriorating during the commercial process . So it's high time that we should realize we never be the dominator of the whole world conquring nature, but should spare no efforts to improve the environment right away. That is, we should comply with the natural laws, make reasonable utilization of natural resources and keep the harmonious development between the society and the environment. Only in this way will we has an opportunity to embrace a bright future and achieve a sustainable society .

In the book, Walden, Thoreau not only advocated the protection of nature, but also encourage people to comprehend and return to nature. He told us using his own experience that by living a simple life close to nature, we human beings will find out the true value of life and significance of existence.

After reading the book, what impressed me most is the description of the fascinating scenery around the Walden pound, especially these sentences: "A lake is the landscape's most beautiful and expressive feature. It is earth's eye; looking into which the beholder measures the depth of his own nature. The fluviatile trees next the shore are the slender eyelashes which fringe it, and the wooded hills and cliffs around are its overhanging brows". To Thoreau, the Walden lake is like a charming and melting girl , who has slender eyelashes and likes to dress herself in different beautiful clothes with the changes of different seasons.

Every morning after getting up, Thoreau would have a bath in the Walden lake to start a new day. After that, he used to wander around the pond and refresh himself with the fresh air. In summer days , he cultivated a piece of land and growed beans, blackberries, johnsworts and the like. The depiction of his leisure rurality spontaneously reminds me of Tao Yuanming, the famous Chinese poet, who lived in the Jin Dynasty and made his life meaningful by returning to the nature and perfecting himself. If Thoreau and Tao Yuanming lived in the same period and place, they would probably become best friends.

From the book, we know that during the years when Thoreau lived near the Walden, he did not completely isolate himself from the outside world. Sometimes he went to the town and did odd jobs and would receive visitors and friends in his cabin at times. As I mention before, the intention for his living in the woods was that he wanted to teach people how to live a simple life, achieve enjoyment from the nature, free oneself from the strained daily life and what is more important is to reevaluate 2

the value of social life.

Thoreau's though of enjoying a simple life has a more realistic significance and have become a valuable spiritual wealth in our modern society. With the development of the material civilization, people's desires are swelling limitlessly and many people are busy with the pursuit of wealth and luxurious life by any means, including at the expense of nature. However, even in the society materially affluent and technologically advanced , people are not be more happier than those people who lived centuries ago, but even feel less satisfactory and complaint more about their present life as a result of having unbounded desires of getting more and better. Therefore, many people who possess a lat have become slaves of machine, working more but do not have the ability to enjoy what they have.

In the book Walden, Thoreau had realize this problem several hundreds ago. Thus, he set his mind to give a enlightenment to awake people and encourage them to live a simple life. His thoughts have great similarity with the belief of our Chinese humanism, that is, the meaning of life lies in the sane and healthy enjoyment of a simple life. In fact, Thoreau and his teacher and friend Emerson praised highly on Confucianism and both them benefited a lot from it. I am very happy to see the interlinked place between Chinese culture and western culture.

Reading this book is like having a tranquil steam flow through my heart, washing the dust in my mind. It teaches me how to keep a pure spirit in the complex society, set proper goals for my life as well as enjoy the endows of nature. In short, I feel it quite worthwhile to read the book Walden. I sincerely hope more and more people would like to read this book and receive benefits from it .

《巴别塔读后感 英文》

Building A Bebal To Heaven?

--BLCU赵擎

In the Bible, the story bebal is very short and it doesn’t seem to stand out among the interesting stories. But I think it is a really good and insightful. In the story, the whole world had one language and a common speech, men wanted to build a city and a tower that could reach the heaven.God scattered men from there over all the earth and confused their language in order to stop them and also for protecting himself.

Someone thinks that this story is written to sing the praises of human beings. They are in favor of the fact that men had dreams and they made efforts to reach the goal, just as the movie Bebal. People put humanity in this movie at a very high level and consider that it is the beauty of human that rescued themself.

However,I stand in a different view and hold a different idea about the theme of this biblical story. Why God stopped men from building the tower? Because men were not like the original Adam and Eve any more, and they had knowledge and even some bad quality from which God had already tasted the bitterness. What’s more, those who built the tower were not all human beings but fallen angels who still wanted to find a way back to heaven. As for men, they just settled down after the flood and a long migration, and very soon they did not develop themselves

nor appreciated ,instead ,built something in honor of their ancestors and themselves. Especially they used bricks instead of stone and tar for mortar, which shows their over pride. But try to think in another way in terms of God.Does it make sense for God to do so?Was it too sensitive for God to make such a decision? What can we find from this story? Some people say God was naughty and made a trick on men,and maybe.

Fortunately, what God did ,to some extent, led a good result to the world. It is said that a nation whose people speak one language is easy to get on war and probably destroy themself. Thanks to God for making the world different!Look at the world that we are enjoying, diverse in races ,in languages ,in culture and so forth. It provides us a rich and colorful life for everybody.Differences lead to beautiful sparks.

《Peter Pan的英文读后感》

Peter Pan: The Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up

Peter Pan, is the book’s name, but also the boy’s name. This book has another name Peter and Wendy. It published in 1911, telling a story of Peter Pan, a mischievous little boy who can fly, and his adventures on the island of Neverland with Wendy Darling and her brothers, the fairy Tinker Bell, the Lost Boys, the Indian princess Tiger Lily, and the pirate Captain Hook.

Peter Pan is a character created by Scottish novelist and playwright J. M. Barrie (1860–1937). A mischievous boy who can fly and magically refuses to grow up, Peter Pan spends his never-ending childhood adventuring on the small island of Neverland as the leader of his gang the Lost Boys, interacting with mermaids, Indians, fairies, pirates, and (from time to time) meeting ordinary children from the world outside. In addition to two distinct works by Barrie, the character has been featured in a variety of media and merchandise, both adapting and expanding on Barrie's works. Sir James Matthew Barrie, 1st Baronet, OM (9 May 1860 – 19 June 1937) was a Scottish author and dramatist, best remembered today as the creator of Peter Pan. The child of a family of small-town weavers, he was educated in Scotland. He moved to London, where he developed a career as a novelist and playwright. There he met the Llewelyn Davies boys who inspired him in writing about a baby boy who has magical adventures in Kensington Gardens (included in The Little White Bird), then to write Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up, a "fairy play" about this ageless boy and an ordinary girl named Wendy who have adventures in the fantasy setting of Neverland. This play quickly overshadowed his previous work and although he continued to write successfully, it became his best-known work, credited with popularising the name Wendy, which was very uncommon previously.[1] Barrie

unofficially adopted the Davies boys following the deaths of their parents. Before his death, he gave the rights to the Peter Pan works to Great Ormond Street Hospital, which continues to benefit from them.

In his life,he has written many books. Barrie died of pneumonia on 19 June 1937 and is buried at Kirriemuir next to his parents and two of his siblings. He left the bulk of his estate (excluding the Peter Pan works, which he had previously given to

Great Ormond Street Hospital) to his secretary Cynthia Asquith. His birthplace at 4 Brechin Road is maintained as a museum by the National Trust for Scotland.

This story touch me so mush, because in my childhood, even now, I don’t want to grow up.

On chapter one, it read” All children, except one, grow up. They soon know that they will grow up, and the way Wendy knew was this. One day when she was two years old she was playing in a garden, and she plucked another flower and ran with it to her mother. I suppose she must have looked rather delightful, for Mrs. Darling put her hand to her heart and cried, "Oh, why can't you remain like this for ever!" This was all that passed between them on the subject, but henceforth Wendy knew that she must grow up. You always know after you are two. Two is the beginning of the end.”

“Two is the beginning of the end”. Everyone should grow up. We must to say “Good bye” to our happy childhood and never come back. Peter didn’t want to grow up, so he escaped. I want to escape, too. But I can’t. I believe that many people want to escape as we all like to stay in the wonderful lives. If we always be a child, we would be protect forever. We needn’t think too much, living in our own world without any big trouble. What a great life! I miss my childhood. I wish Neverland

.

Everyone must be familiar with the boy who doesn't want to grow up ,but J.M. Barrie's book provides an altogther more poignant tale of the lives of peter and the Lost Boys. Peter trying to stick his shadow back on with soap ,and teaching Wendy how to fly ,alongside the intricacies of fairy love and some scary adventures amongst pirates and redskins in the colourful world of Neverland. We all know characters like peter pan:irresponsible, forgetful, fiercrly independent and living only for the moment will they always stay the same.

“As you look at Wendy, you may see her hair becoming white, and her figure little again, for all this happened long ago. Jane is now a common grown-up, with a daughter called Margaret; and every spring cleaning time, except when he forgets, Peter comes for Margaret and takes her to the Neverland, where she tells him

stories about himself, to which he listens eagerly. When Margaret grows up she will have a daughter, who is to be Peter's mother in turn; and thus it will go on, so long as children are gay and innocent and heartless.”

At the end, everyone grow up, expect Peter. Maybe sometimes he feel lonely. Maybe not. Whatever, he will forger many things, sadness and happiness. Wendy as well as me, will remember him in a long long long time.

There are many kids, imagine to play everyday, withour studying or growinb up. Peter Pan , was just a boy who want

never to grow up. He lived in Neverland, like a heaven, there were sweet-sounding fairies, long-hair mermaid, never grown-up kids, mysterious Indians, terrible pirates, and crocodiles which can make a sound like "dida".Howerer, colorful life couldn't replace Peter's missing of his mother. So a girl named Wendy, who also want never to grow up, came into Neverland to become the kids'mother. They began the all kinds of adventure in Neverland. However, Wendy choose to grow up in the end .She, with her "children" ,flew through the window home, which thire mother had kept open for them. The boy Peter, unwanted to grow, though own a world of happiness, he can't have a warm fanily. He could just look by the windows, watch the stoves, smiles and the affection in a family, and went away silently with the fairies, disappeared in the night.

Michael Jackson said: Peter Pan represents my inner nature, childhood, dream, fly, never grow up, I was Peter Pan.

I love this book. I love this story. I try my best to live a happy life but I often meet troubles. However, I will never give up. I have dreams and something I want. I will be confident and optimism. Even though I have grown up, I would be Peter Pan.

The Analects of Confucius

Recently, I have read the Analects of Confucius . it is, the literature translation of "the Analects of Confucius, my mood is complex, now id talk like to talk about my impressions of the book.

. "The Analects of Confucius" is our Chinese nation's precious cultural heritage, which not only affects the Chinese history of two thousand years, but in the world has had a major impact,,itisKnown as the Oriental "Bible", in the "Analects of Confucius", we can deeply feel the Confucius "be tireless in teaching others" and "lifelong learning" spirit ,.His broad and profound educational thought is filled with the light of wisdom, which is China's traditional education 's precious wealth..

Learning path.

A learning attitude.

Confucius attaches great importance to learning attitude, emphasizing

To learn is life "".He bore "bright as is fond of studying." stable, and modestly said they do not have an insatiable desire to learn "".He also advocate mutual learning attitude, "to have friends from afar, awfully?"The "Le", friends and learn from each other, in music, is the increase in learning music. The most valuable is Confucius advocated "is" of the spirit, he affirmed the student grooms "hole is" spirit, this spirit is in today's society, we are missing, one can obtain more abundant knowledge, must learn to ask, only in this way can you have the opportunity to become one.

Two, learning method.

"Learning proficiency for Officialdom", emphasize the main revision.Confucius's time, teach lessons and polite, music, archery, royal, so not only review, and practice, to the actual operation."Learn by heart silently", stressed the importance of "knowledge", namely the remember, only remember on master consolidation."During, review" what is the

purpose?Although in order to "knowledge", in order to consolidate the learned knowledge, but do not forget the "new knowledge", only to have a new experience, new discovery, we achieve "温故" deeper purpose.Confucius also placed particular emphasis on "learning" and "thinking" combination, neither side, "learning without thinking is useless, and thinking for the study is dangerous", "science" is "thinking", "thinking" to "learn", the two

complement each other. In addition, Confucius also attaches great importance to refine on, "Ruqierucuo, such as cut, such as grinding" opposed to have a superficial knowledge of, tasted.

(two) of people

"I ten five and willing to learn, sanshierli, forty and perplexed, fifty and know destiny, at sixty, seventy and have whatever one's heart desires, without transgressing."This

statement roughly means: "when I was fifteen years old to study, thirty years to establish their own ideal, forty years is not for what I have done and confused, even when I know the natural law and rules, at the age of sixty no matter what you hear, don't think more, can understand it mean, and distinguish between truth and falsehood.Seventy years old my moral cultivation to a certain extent we can do what we like to do things, and not the laws rules."

In my opinion, this is a general roadmap, in these signs it. There are several important stages by Confucius important stressed out. Confucius said, "ten five and interested in learning", he is a starting point, is also a requirement for students.

One, with the correct attitude towards life.

In the life of every person is mentally handicapped and unpleasant, maybe we can not change the fact, but we can change our attitude to look at these things."The Analects of Confucius" of the essence, you tell us, how to use peaceful attitude to treat the shortcomings of life and suffering, one must first be able to correctly face the life of regret, don't dwell on the inside, ask you again and again asked, this can only relieve your pain.We should take a positive attitude and optimistic in the face of life.Only in this way.Our life will be more meaningful, more wonderful.

Love is love, respect people like love.

Modern people usually hope to get the love of others, get the respect of others. In modern society, some people can be tolerant, give our love to the society, it is worth learning, but some people do for me first, supercilious, nobody in the eyes, some people said something nasty, regardless of whether others will accept or not.If your heart is not others, is to respect others, especially in the life many unhappy people, suffering more than happy people, not easy to do extreme self-love, so we at any time to maintain a sincere heart, sincere praise of others, sincere to others, really accept the goodwill of others in Germany, to complain, justice in return for injustice, using Analects spirit guide our behavior.

"The Analects of Confucius" is the condensation of morality and wisdom, is be good at giving systematic guidance thought the teacher, is a map of our moral character, moral character cultivation mirror, let our life find their own direction, so that we in the way of modern life, a more art and wisdom, more of a cool and leisure, more a gift in life.

Through the "Analects of Confucius" learning, so I realized that the life "of the word, line of regret" as calm, to do the brave heart, to make life efficiency glow of light.Holding a heart, worthy, worthy person, always full of youthful spirit, enterprising spirit, the anger of the struggle, make your life more wonderful..

Confucius once said: "I must be born with knowledge, good old, earnest in seeking it." he said, was not born to understand a lot of things, just for the experience and much interested in, and keep learning. For this one information time, need to learn things very much. Now many children are not "fifteen to learn", probably in kindergarten, I began to learn it. But I think it is not necessarily useful, not necessarily in the future are useful for children. Confucius said: "learning without thinking is useless, die without learning is

perilous." to learn to think, to use advanced studies. Make yourself is to maximize the use of a learning way. In such a learning and thought of grounding and experience, constantly improve themselves, and slowly the sentiment, has been to Confucius said at the age of 30\

See "the Analects of Confucius" coarse, but is a Book of quotations from Chairman Mao ", and" no difference.Be careful to Confucius and his disciples, politics, philosophy, world outlook, philosophy of education, almost all the between the lines contained in the book of quotations."The Analects of Confucius" in the most common words, but is the doctrine of the mean, the gentleman, Liren.

"Analects of Confucius" doctrine of the mean is the most easily understood and the most difficult to achieve. The doctrine of the mean "to avoid leaning to either side, others take compromise attitude".This idea reflects the current residents of Beijing "could" culture. On the doctrine of literal understanding is: everything from Duode, always maintain neutrality. This is good, can avoid many unnecessary disputes, but excessive "could" can make a nation to sleep, the development of ancient China is a strong evidence. The doctrine of the mean of Confucianism for way, reflects the weakness of the Confucian school.

A gentleman is a deep sense of the word. From what I heard "jaw-jaw is better than", "silence is a gentleman", feel a gentleman like a dull person. In fact, the gentleman is Confucianism Confucius them a claim, is the ideal "mean".For example, "the", "go ahead of the rest of his pieces of bucket", embodies the qualities of a gentleman. And a relative of course is the villain, villain is not bad, but the quality is not a high."The Analects of Confucius" spend considerable lengths to say without mincing words that gentleman and small differences, such as the "gentleman villain often worried,", "the gentleman cooperate to do good deeds, man is not week".However, the material position often and the villain is far.Mao Zedong said: "the gentleman gentleman villain tired, be compassionate heart to save."Visible gentleman material life is so tragic!

Ritual, performance of Confucius to at that time social discontent.Confucius lived in the turbulent in the spring and Autumn period, states do not abide by the "Zhouli", make a group the atmosphere was foul.Confucius Ceremony is the core of "renown", namely "name is not correct, the word is not suitable; word is not suitable, then nothing will be accomplished; impossibilities, in addition to music is music; in addition, the punishments not; punishments not people, not knowing what to do".Confucius is committed to maintaining the three cardinal guides, put forward "Junjun, Chen Chen, father, son son".Therefore, when the doctor's "from season eight Yi dance in court", Confucius said angrily: "can I can't can also, cooked?"

Kernel, is Confucius ethics, which later became his student Mencius political ideas.Confucius considered "deny self and return to propriety, benevolence".Restrain oneself, follow the "gift", that there is "benevolence"."Benevolence", "people here love" refers to the Royal noble; respect the court aristocracy, "make", also shows that Confucius "Rites" to respect. In addition, Confucius also "benevolence" as a "person": "the benevolent, people standard."Guo Moruo in the "ten critical book" said: "this so-called Confucius benevolence, apparently it is conform to the trend of the liberation of slaves. This also is found."

Never frown, "Analects of Confucius" gone through two thousand spring and autumn, and not suitable for our present thought, it is the classic of classics.Classic never expired, we should critically inherit the traditional Chinese culture, keep "Analects of Confucius" to the socialist system service. In short, "the Analects of Confucius" is our reading classic, I suffer its role is very deep.
